The manual refers to 1 and two gig cards simply because they were the largest normally available sizes when the D80 was available from new.

There is no technical restriction on the size of carte du jour you can apply. I suspect a bad card here.

You might consider;

i) Good quality ‘ mainstream manufacturer’ cards – I adopt Sandisk

two) Format your cards in the photographic camera before you use them, including from new.

3) Once you have downloaded, apply the same formatting choice in the camera to wipe / delete everything from the cards – don’t let your calculator exercise this every bit information technology will not necessarily clear everything and over a period of fourth dimension you tin cease up with a corrupted card.

I’ve filled up viii and xvi gig cards while shooting with no bug. I dropped in a 64 gig card I accept and it prompts me to format it (already formatted for a 7100), later formatting the camera says the card is FULL in the brandish. Subsequent formats do nix to change that so 64 gig is out. I do not have a 32 gig menu to try.

All cards were Sandisk.

Every bit carl-dania says, I also format in camera after downloading images to PC, I do not delete or format with the PC. I as well always ‘eject’ the menu from the computer. If the formatting the carte du jour doesn’t clear things up, I would too suspect a bad card.

Many thanks for all the replies. Firmware is current. Menu was e’er formatted in camera. I suspect that it may be a bad (cheap) carte du jour. I’ll endeavour one of better quality and see what happens.

The old 4GB bill of fare must accept been faulty. I purchased an 8GB SanDisk Extreme card and it works fine. I am not certain well-nigh the write speed equally I don’t tend to shoot in burst manner but I have to say that the read speed is much faster than the 1GB bill of fare I had been using. Thank you again for your communication.

D80’s are uniform with HCSD (High Chapters SD) cards, then there shouldn’t be any bug. Make certain yous have the updated firmware besides. It shouldn’t make a difference but doesn’t hurt. I think i’ve used some pretty large cards in mine, but can’t remember now. I know i’ve used at least 8Gb cards.

I have a Sandisk 32gb grade four, capable of holding 4,000 + raw files. Had it in since I got the photographic camera about half dozen months ago. It hasn’t missed a trounce. Solid card, solid photographic camera well pleased with the setup. Bill of fare cost me nearly £twenty and then non hugely expensive.

D80 is SDHC compatible, and the maximum capacity for SDHC cards is 32GB. Across that capacity it would be using the SDXC format for which our D80 camera’s are not uniform with. I have personally used Sandisk 16GB grade 10 cards without whatsoever problems. I take not tried 32GB versions still.

I used a san disk 32GB ultra with no problems. It is nice to hold thousands of raw files. I’ve shot a lot of time lapse with it.

After searching for info regarding max sc menu size for my D80 I stumbled across this lath and have found the info that I am looking for from you guys. I have too trid a 64gig card in diverse file formats (NTFS, ex-FAT, FAT32) with no luck then the 32gig card will have to stay in in that location. Merely at 2.4k of raw images to the bill of fare I guess I can’t grumble. Cheers guys.

I routinely use viii and 16GB cards with no issue. I’chiliad non a fan of huge cards since one bad / lost carte du jour puts too much data at take chances.

Guesty artwork says:

If, for whatever stupid reason, you but accept a 64GB card on yous, you can partition it into 2x32GB and it’ll write to the first division.
