Re: What is the all-time tripod for nikon P900?

I grabbed a Velbon 355 on Amazon for gbp 65 and I am very happy with information technology. It has a video head so for travelling it works for a light scope too, if you are into birding.

The trouble is non necessarily a fault of your tripod…..the droop of the front of your camera is most likey acquired past the weight of the extended 2000mm lens and the center of gravity on you P900 camera base. Run into the link below to a post I made several months agone. This is an cheap solution that has worked great for me and others here in the Forum who have tried it.

Re: What is the all-time tripod for nikon P900?

The trouble I take found with tripods and heads, specially when using the zoom is getting the camera pointing precisely where I want it! it seems you need a head more in keeping with a video camera than a however, equally small-scale movements are more than often needed.

I take more heads than I like trying to solve this trouble, then Manfrotto must have read my mind and came out with a unit of measurement that I have been using for a couple of months at present and is a ‘keeper’

Non cheap! but works a care for.

DJ

I accept the older version of the Manfrotto geared head that I apply for macro piece of work on a heavy duty geared tripod. Geared Heads work bang-up for very pocket-size adjustments at odd angeles and definitely don’t droop. I use it with my Nikon D800 but  I wouldn’t even consider it for my P900 and long bird shots. Too time consuming for me to reposition speedily for birds. But every bit you say it’s a fine caput.
