By | 21/08/2022

Ane of the most useful features on your Canon EOS 70D for the experienced lensman is the C setting on the Mode dial. This option, which stands for Photographic camera User Settings, enables you to set up your own exposure mode. You lot start by selecting and saving all the photographic camera settings you want to utilize when y’all switch to C style. Then when yous’re out shooting, you can invoke all those settings but by setting the Manner punch to C, equally shown in the figure below.

To have advantage of C mode, follow these steps:

  1. Set upward your photographic camera.

Start by selecting the exposure mode on which yous want to base the custom mode (Idiot box, Av, M, and so on). Then set the initial exposure, flash, autofocusing, Drive manner, and color options you desire to use when you switch to C mode. Next, take a trip through the menus and select your preferred settings. You tin can shop all menu settings except the following:

    • Shooting Carte four:
Dust Delete Data, HDR Fashion on/off, and Multiple Exposure on/off. The options that you tin can select when using HDR Style and Multiple Exposure
      are
stored, just make sure to set up both features to disable before you have Step 2.

    • Live View Menu 1:
      Touch Shutter.

    • Movie Menu 2:
Time Lawmaking (although the Film recording count and Movie play count settings available for this menu selection are stored).

    • Playback Carte du jour 1:
No options on this menu tin can be stored.

    • Playback Menu 2:
Resize and Rating; for Slide Evidence, prove settings are stored.

    • Playback Menu three:
      Ctrl over HDMI.

    • Setup Card 1:
      Select Folder and Format Card.

    • Setup Bill of fare ii:
Date/Time, Linguistic communication, and GPS Device Settings.

    • Setup Menu 3:
Video System, Characteristic Guide, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Function.

    • Setup Carte 4:
None can be stored except the Auto Cleaning setting available for the Sensor Cleaning option.

    • Custom Functions Card, Operation/Others category:
      Warnings in viewfinder.

    • My Menu:
Your custom carte options aren’t stored, either.

  2. Open Setup Carte du jour 4 and choose Custom Shooting Mode (C Mode), equally shown on the left in the figure below.

The screen shown on the correct in the preceding effigy appears.

  3. Choose Register Settings.

You see a confirmation screen; choose OK. The camera stores your settings and returns you to the screen shown on the right in the in a higher place figure.

Equally for the other 2 options on that menu, they piece of work similar so:

  • Clear Settings:
Select this pick to return C to its default country, which is modeled after the P (programmed autoexposure) mode.

  • Auto Update Set up(tings):
When you’re working in C mode, you can notwithstanding change any photographic camera setting — you’re not locked into the registered settings. If you enable this menu selection then vary a registered setting, the photographic camera automatically registers that
    new
setting as office of your C mode. Needless to say, y’all tin get off track chop-chop if you enable this function, which is why it’south turned off past default.

One quirk to note near C manner: When the Way dial is set to C, you lot tin’t restore the photographic camera defaults by choosing Articulate All Camera Settings from Setup Menu iv or Clear All Custom Functions from the Custom Functions menu.
