By | 21/08/2022

Simply got my A7…no silent shutter?

Just got my A7…no silent shutter?

I just received my an A7.  The first thing I wanted to do is plough off or down the annoying shutter audio.  Only can’t detect where to do that.  I’grand starting to get worried in that location isn’t a way to practise information technology.  Is there a way?

Make sure “due east-Front Curtain Shut.” is gear up to “ON” – that volition cutting out one-half of the clatter.

I’ve heard complaints about the silent shutter equally implemented on the newer models. So, fifty-fifty if the A7 did offer that feature, you might not have found it to be as indispensable as you had hoped.

The new A9 sounds more promising. (Hopefully some of that functionality will work its way into the next camera body afterward my next photographic camera body.)

Hopefully for the time being you lot can live with the shutter noise and relish knowing how much money you lot are saving. (FWIW I’ve got enough of overnice candid shots from the A7 in my library. The less self-conscious I am, the less self-conscious my subjects seem to be…)

Bummer.  I judge if information technology really bothers me I can return to BHPhoto without a problem.

Only honestly, do you get used to it?  I’m coming from an RX100 (silent) and Ricoh GRII (silent), and then it’s a bit shocking.  But then once more, I’thousand not actually going to be using the A7 for Street.

I notice that the e-Front end Curtain Shutter came gear up to “On” and it’southward more quiet On than when I tried it set to Off.  Is there whatsoever existent everyday problem having this prepare to the default On?

The just fourth dimension I’ve had to plough off EFCS is when shooting with high-speed sync wink at very high shutter speeds – otherwise y’all become a slight striped issue across the image.

If you lot are using fast drinking glass and shooting say at 1/1000 or faster, information technology will likewise bear on the bokeh quality making it harsher.
We take been discussing virtually this many times and very recently at Fred Miranda forums on the Sigma 135mm i.8 thread.
Would be nice for Sony to let assigning that choice to a button or to set a speed to disable information technology.

Thank you all.

At first I was thinking, damn, I should take went for the A7ii.  Merely now I realize it has the aforementioned issue.

Well, when I bought this I figured I would merely use it for perhaps a year or and then while I become comfortable with a Sony Full-Frame camera.  And after that time, if I feel good well-nigh it, I’m sure Sony will have released several newer A7/A9 cameras for me to spend more coin on. And any drinking glass I put on the A7 will work with it’s successor.  And if non, I’m but out $1100 plus a few batteries, less what I can resell it for.

I just won’t practice whatever street with it, that’s what my Ricoh is for. I’m getting into landscape and I’ll similar to effort some portraits, and the shutter makes no difference there.
