Nikkor twenty-35mm f/2.8D

I spotted a mint copy of this pro-built Nikkor for £290 UKP ($380 US).

Nobody seems to talk about information technology these days (the lens was discontinued in 2001). However, I did find a review dated 2008 on Bjørn Rørslett’southward Website where he rated information technology 4.5 out of 5 using a Nikon F5 (picture) and 4 on a D1 (2.7 Mpx): http://www.naturfotograf.com/index2.html

Still, he commented “The main trouble with this lens, and the reason I swapped information technology for the AFS 28-70, is simply that information technology shows the ill furnishings from IF, viz. color fringing in the periphery and out-of-focus areas. In fact, information technology never imparts high sharpness when it is applied to mural-type photography because there remains a
tangible fuzziness within the DOF zone.
So, although theory predicts a large DOF, it cannot be realised due to the chromatic errors (mostly lateral color)”.

I do non know whether older reviews such as this remain valid over a decade later given advances in technology, nor indeed whether those very advances are probable to amplify perceived weaknesses in less modern glass.

Thoughts appreciated, peculiarly from anyone with feel with this lens. I’d exist using it on a D810.
