Problem with auto focus on kit lens D3200

Problem with automobile focus on kit lens D3200

Hi everyone,

I received a D3200 for my birthday a couple of weeks ago with the kit lens eighteen-55mm.

It had been working fine on auto but occasionally it wouldn’t focus, which I just put downwardly to my inexperience and some of the settings beingness wrong etc.

But it seems to have only gotten worse. Most times I try to have a motion picture it merely won’t focus at all, and you tin hear clicking in the lens almost as if the motor is broken. Withal every time I slightly unscrew the lens and then click it back into place this fixes the problem then I think it might be down to the connectors betwixt the photographic camera and the lens and how its sitting.

Has anyone had this trouble before?

Any other trouble shooting I can try?

Its definitely set to Auto on the wheel and on the lens.

Thanks ,

Will

Yep – try to carefully clean the contacts – on both the camera and the lens. It’s not an uncommon issue. Make certain all the contacts are nowadays and unbroken.

Make certain likewise that the lens is turned all the mode – you should hear the click, when it Locks – some lenses more clearly than others.

Well.

The Wheel, I suppose is the exposure-Wheel (with “green Auto” scenes, MASP a.and so.) – has nil to do with Auto-Focus. It’due south exposure-modes. It should auto-focus contained of the exposure-setting.

The lens should be set to AF – that is auto-focus.

You should also set the AF-modes and AF-areamodes in the card (You can prepare it apace using the I-button).

Thanks ,

Re: Problem with auto focus on kit lens D3200

We have the same issue. The contacts are good, Lens is fix to A (not Chiliad). If I put information technology to M, I tin focus manually, so it can focus correctly. I have the eighteen-55 lens that came with the photographic camera.

Is the motor in the lens? I used to hear the motor working but I cannot hear annihilation anymore.

Is there a test to encounter if the lens is broken? I do not accept another lens.

Thank yous for any help

Is there a carte du jour item AF?

If yes set it to AF-A. try to focus on close object then on far away- it it does not focus something is wrong.

If you lot are not sure y’all have the SLR+ lens ready properly, and you take a friend who shoots w/ SLR, ask for help before sending anything to Nikon.

***During my girl’s high school graduation ceremony, there was a man sitting in front of me, who was trying to use a small Nikon DSLR (d3200 or 3300) simply was frustrated over something. One fourth dimension he turned around and saw me w/ my D90+70-300VR, and he asked me, “I can’t sympathize I press the push merely it does not take a picture and it takes it after”. I asked if it was his DSLR and he replied, “No its my son’s. He gave it to me to take pictures of my granddaughter. Yesterday they were taking pictures of themselves and it worked fine”.

Did non take much time to empathize that his son left the camera in timer manner, simply took a while to get into the proper menu to change it ( I was not familiar west/ small Nikon DSLRs and did not have my reading glasses  west/ me).
