en is shorthand for ethylenediamine. It is a bidentate ligand with the formula NH2CH2CH2NH2.
dien is autograph for diethylenetriamine. Information technology is a tridentate ligand with the formula NH2CH2CH2NHCH2CH2NH2.

Is this something common that we will demand to know going frontwards? I always get so confused when I see it come up.

Re: what does (en) mean?
I think we do need to memorize en since it is a common ligand that we volition probably use going forward. Its too on the mutual ligand tabular array.

Where can we notice the common ligand table used for this class?

Re: what does (en) mean?
I call up it is helpful to know that en/ethylenediamine has no charge, it is neutral.

Where tin can we detect the common ligand table used for this grade?
There is a link to a ligand table on Professor Lavelle’s website past the periodic tabular array link I believe.

Re: what does (en) mean?
en (ethylenediamine H2NCH2CH2NH2) is a bidenate. And so it has 2 donor atoms, and therefore contributes two to the coordination number as a complex.

Hullo! en is shorthand for ethylenediamine. The formula of this ligand is NH2CH2CH2NH2. Promise it helps.

Re: what does (en) mean?
I saw this in the sapling homework! (en) is an abbreviation for a compound, commonly called ethylenediamine. It’s a bidentate ligand and its formula is NH2CH2CH2NH2! Hope this helps!

Re: what does (en) mean?
Adding on to what everyone said to a higher place, in that location are some really helpful tables in the textbook under the 9C section that outline common ligands! They’re really helpful when trying to memorize all of the dissimilar ones. But, as others take said, en is a bidentate ligand that is short for ethylenediamine!

Re: what does (en) hateful?
In one of the sapling homework problems (question five for me), the feedback includes a table (chempendix) of ligands. You tin can check it out to see some common ligand names and their denticity.

practice y’all guys know if we’ll need to know this past memory for this class/serial? wondering if it’south something I should look at before the exam in case it shows upward

Re: what does (en) mean?
(en) stands for ethylenediamine. It is ane of the neutral ligands that we will have to know for the class. Someone earlier posted a link to the worksheet showing all the ligands we should be familiar with, so y’all should expect over that besides 🙂

In
, (en) is meant to represent ethylenediamine, a bidentate ligand with the molecular formula
. Simply for future reference, you lot can e’er look at the ligand table in Sapling’due south Chempendix or the one on Professor Lavelle’s website if you demand assistance as well.

Re: what does (en) mean?
information technology ways ethylenediamine. Basically it can form a double bond and and then you would double the coordination number. Simply I don’t how would it affect the oxidation country. Anyone know?

Will we need to have this memorized? Also does anyone know if we can utilise the common ligand tabular array on the final or if this type of information volition exist given to u.s.a. in the question?

I know that the final is closed book, so I’thousand preparing to only get a periodic table and formula sheet.
