Hi, delight suggest which wireless remote command will be most suitable for Nikon D850.
I prefer radio remotes over IR remotes.
If nosotros’re talking almost a remote to fire the camera shutter, I use the cheapest Chinese models off eBay I tin can notice. You probably desire to buy 2 if yous use them for critical bug, but the seem to wrk fine every bit long as they work at all
Seems like I was paying about $xvi for them, just it’s been ages since I’ve needed to supervene upon one.
Any of this stuff will work. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=nikon+d850+wireless+shutter+release&_sacat=0&_sop=15
If yous adopt to purchase from a employ visitor, B & H has a slew of the aforementioned Chinese stuff at https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=Nikon%20d850%20wireless%20shutter%20release&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Tiptop+Nav-Search=
If talking firing a remote strobe
from the photographic camera, I like the relabeled Godox offerings from Adorama under the Flashpoint brand, assuming the strobe is supported by Godox.

Why non tether your phone or tablet via wifi and trigger the shutter that way? Nikon has software y’all can download and there are great third party ones besides.
SnapBridge from Nikon is one, and Cascable is some other. You’ll demand to update your firmware to the latest version if you desire to utilize Cascable though.

In that location tends to exist a delay between pressing the button and the shutter activating using snapbridge app.

Re: Wireless Remote Control for D850
I’ve been using RFN-4a wireless remotes for several years, starting with my D300 I think.
I originally tried a Phottix, then a second, newer Phottix. Both worked, but short range. Still, swell for $35 shipped.
The RFN-4s has some nice features, among them a receiver that does not sit down in the hot shoe but instead merely sits on the 10-pivot connector. Information technology’s out-of-the-way enough to just go out there full-time for many users.
Somehow I lost the 10-pin part in the field 1 day, then I ordered another. Forgot the ‘s’ and ended up with a wired remote instead of wireless. Sigh. Re-ordered the right unit of measurement.
Here is a link:
$65
Now I as well have some Pocket Wizards that I could use to trigger the camera from a slap-up distance. Just – the price! Back in the mean solar day when this was first advertised, PW wanted more $100 just for the cable you need! Now I come across it is only $21, so I may get ahead and try information technology some day. But the RFN-4s works from a few hundred feet, which is fine for me. I normally just use it for birding with mirror-up on a tripod.

Re: Wireless Remote Control for D850
I use Pocket Wizards since I already take them. I simply needed the ~$20 cable that goes from ten-pin on the photographic camera to the remote. I believe you need the III or afterward if you desire focus before trigger.
I apply it for my photobooth, I call it a high-tech selfie station. People control the shot with the trigger activating Car AF zone or whatever it’s called, the shot goes from camera to computer, then to projector and web. Then see information technology live on a giant screen in <5 seconds and tin can download information technology in <10.
There’s a vertical grip that includes a remote, I was thinking of giving that a endeavour.
I’ve got several of these grips which include a wireless remote: https://world wide web.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0786ZZ7N2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=i
Great cost and also requite you lot nine fps.

For the Nikon D850 and selection number 2 you need the WR-R10, WR-A10, and WR-T10. It is bachelor every bit a kit hither – https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/production/911445-REG/nikon_27106_wr_a10_wireless_remote_controller.html
I utilise this setup with my D850 and it works well. I take used information technology at a distance of near 50 feet with no issues. Information technology will also work on the D800.
I promise this helps,

Howdy, please propose which wireless remote control will exist most suitable for Nikon D850.
I’ve been through iii third party ones now and like this one all-time:
I have used the Pixel remote and the Nikon WR-R10/WR-T10/WR-A10 Wireless Remote. 1 reward of the Nikon is that information technology has a Fn (part) button that can be programmed. I have it set go into live view. The disadvantage to the Nikon remote is toll. The Pixel is much less costly. I accept both, The Nikon remote is on the d850 and the Pixel is on the d800. Both work well.
I hope this helps.

The Pixel TW-283. Trigger + timing functions. Reliable, common batteries, good range.

Re: Nikon WR10/WA10 remote accessories NOT being made!
Just an FYI…the Nikon WR10 (receiver) is NOT currently being fabricated. Nikon United states of america staff told me about two months ago that Nikon Tokyo cannot currently make the WR10 because they practise non have the parts. That means the WA-x kit of parts is too non available. Nikon-USA does not know when the parts will become bachelor. If you lot await at the B&H and the Adorama websites you will see these items are always listed as “back ordered” so they are not in stock.
Because of this problem, I could not get a Nikon wireless remote for my Nikon Z6 camera. I chose SMDV’s RFN-4 wireless remote as an alternative. It’due south receiver connects to the Z where the WR10 would go. I believe your 850 has the same connector on the side. But the 850 also has the Nikon 10 pivot connector for which SMDV has a smaller, unlike style receiver. You lot can observe out all the options either at the SMDV or the Amazon website. Various DPR members have praised the RFN-4 as a very good wireless remote.

I too accept lost the receiver (after my beginning employ!) and had to purchase another. I am much more careful now, but if I exercise lose it again, I wonder if we could by the receiver-only from the manufacturer. Probably not…

Information technology’s bluetooth, completely different technology, terrible range (compared to radio), delay problems, etc. and then at that place’due south the battery problems (see below).
Simply from an engineering standpoint: the dedicated remotes mentioned elsewhere in this thread do one affair: wireless remote. They have depression-battery drain.
The Snapbridge (and like) app are on a phone, which does a bunch more stuff (not dedicated to the task of beingness a remote). To keep information technology going, you’ll accept to put it in airplane mode to reduce the bombardment drain, and you’ll accept to turn off the auto-off delay so it stays on (which increases the bombardment drain).
Information technology’s but not a reliable method for a working photographer.
